{"id":4696,"date":"2023-03-31T14:14:41","date_gmt":"2023-03-31T17:14:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jfmin.com.br\/2023\/03\/31\/jf-mineracao-performs-the-first-iron-ore-transshipment-operation-in-a-single-vessel\/"},"modified":"2023-03-31T14:14:41","modified_gmt":"2023-03-31T17:14:41","slug":"jf-mineracao-performs-the-first-iron-ore-transshipment-operation-in-a-single-vessel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lhgmining.com.br\/en\/2023\/03\/31\/jf-mineracao-performs-the-first-iron-ore-transshipment-operation-in-a-single-vessel\/","title":{"rendered":"LHG Mining performs the first iron ore transshipment operation in a single vessel"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 175,000 tons of iron ore shipped from the Nueva Palmira port, in Uruguay, arrive in China this week on a Capesize ship<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<li><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The goal is to perform two similar operations per month<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<li><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Around 600,000 tons of ore will be exported worldwide<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<li><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Freight cost will be reduced by up to 15%<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Uruguay<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 In an unprecedented initiative that directly involved more than 50 individuals, LHG Mining performed for the first time a transshipment operation that allowed shipment of iron ore from Corumb\u00e1 (MS), in a single Capesize vessel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Transport for export to the port of Nueva Palmira, in Uruguay, is carried out from the port of Greg\u00f3rio Curvo, in Corumb\u00e1 (MS), via the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">waterway of the Paraguay and Paran\u00e1 rivers. The operation carried out by LHG Mining is a milestone for the export of iron ore in that region since it has never before been possible to load such a large amount of ore onto a single vessel \u2013 in Nueva Palmira, Handymax, Panamax and Baby-cape vessels are loaded with quantities of up to 45,000 tons. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The climate and local environment were a few of the challenges faced by the team involved. Winds and waves can prevent or delay the loading of iron ore and each hour of delay increases operational, which is why the initiative was crucial for the next transshipment to take place at improved speed and at competitive costs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the near future, LHG Mining will carry out two operations similar to this per month and estimates to reduce the cost of maritime freight by up to 15%.
